MUMBAI, Nov. 15, 2017 – Leading global communications firm Ketchum has appointed Girish Huria as President of Ketchum Sampark, one of India’s leading public relations and communications consultancies. Huria joins Ketchum Sampark from eBay India, where he served as Head of Corporate Communications. He will report to N.S. Rajan, Global Partner of Ketchum and Managing Director of Ketchum Sampark.
“It is exciting to have Girish join our leadership team. He is an accomplished leader with strong business acumen and the experience and skills needed to manage a business spread across regions,” said Rajan. “I am confident that together we will build on the momentum we’ve created in this market and will continue delivering value for our clients, our employees and the Ketchum brand.”
In September, Huria was named to Reputation Today’s 2017 Top 100 Communicators in India.
Huria brings nearly two decades of local-market experience and has served as communications counselor on both the agency and client side. He has experience in the vibrant and growing sectors of automotive, financial services, insurance, technology, healthcare and fast moving consumer goods. Prior to his stint at eBay, Huria served as chief operating officer at Avian Media Private Limited, an independent communication firm, where he was responsible for leading business acquisitions, client service and agency strategy. Prior to Avian, Huria served as managing partner at Genesis Burson-Marsteller.
“We are confident that clients will be impressed with Girish’s distinct communications and business perspectives,” said Mark Hume, Chief Operating Officer for Ketchum in the EMEA and APAC regions. “I am looking forward to working with Girish in partnership with Rajan to continue to differentiate Ketchum in the market and propel us ahead of the pack, for clients and our employees.”
Of his new role, Huria said, “I am happy to restart my consultancy career with Ketchum Sampark, which has built a credible and profitable business over the last two decades. The Indian public relations industry has been undergoing rapid changes, and consultancies that will adapt to this growing transformation are the ones that will continue to thrive. Ketchum has been at the forefront of delivering great client campaigns, both globally and in India, and I am looking forward to contributing to its continued success.”
Ketchum acquired a majority stake of Sampark Public Relations, one of the leading PR networks in India, in 2011.
