N S Rajan, fondly called NSR, has been instrumental in re-defining financial and corporate communications in India. A postgraduate in Business Management, NSR widely credited for bringing in ethics, moral values and a sense of pride to the public relations industry in India, started his career with the Associated Cement Companies (ACC), then India's largest cement manufacturer.
He moved on to join the Essar Group in 1989, then an upcoming Indian business conglomerate with interests in steel, oil, shipping and telecom. As its Head of Corporate Communications, NSR successfully built the Essar Group’s +ve Brand image through strategic communications and helped it raise several billion dollars from Indian and global capital markets.
In 1994, NSR partnered with Bela Rajan-a communication specialist to launch Sampark Public Relations Pvt. Ltd., an independent strategic communication consulting firm. Sampark was set up to assist in Image Management programs for Corporates, with a wide range of services including public relations, crisis management, marketing communications, special events planning and assistance.
Sacrificing quantity over quality, money over respect and short cut over hard work, NSR in his illustrious career spanning over two decades has through his consultative and advisory approach, at a time when the industry didn’t have these words in its dictionary, developed and executed distinctive, high-impact global communications campaigns for several global and Indian brands like DSP Merrill Lynch, ICICI Prudential, Fitch Ratings, ICICI Venture, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, Hutch Vodafone, ABB, Exide, Lafarge, AXIS Bank, Nomura Financials, National Stock Exchange, to name a few.
NSR recently inducted in the Hall of Fame by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), is today recognized amongst eminent professionals from the public relations discipline in India.
