Firm Wins Two ICCO Global Awards on Behalf of Its Clients

LONDON, 6 December, 2018 – Barri Rafferty, partner, president and CEO of global communications consultancy Ketchum, was inducted into the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO)’s Hall of Fame at an event held last evening in London.

Of the award, Rafferty said, “I am honored to be inducted into the ICCO Hall of Fame. This recognition encompasses the work of those at Ketchum who have a restless quest for new approaches; who are smart, bold thinkers who challenge the status quo; and who inspire our clients and one another every day. My thanks to them and to ICCO for this recognition.”

Rafferty became the first female CEO of a top-five global public relations firm at the beginning of 2018. In her first year as CEO, Rafferty led a broad agency restructuring that strategically shifted Ketchum to a communications consultancy, enabling the firm to lean in to its deep industry expertise and more easily tap and embed diverse communications specialists in client teams, rather than focusing on specific geographies.

Since joining Ketchum in 1993, Rafferty has held a number of strategic roles across the business. She was named global president in 2016, and previously led Ketchum’s North America business, ran the firm’s Global Brand Marketing Practice, and served as director of the firm’s Atlanta office and New York headquarters office.

Rafferty has been recognized for her commitment to mentoring the next generation of public relations professionals. She chairs the national executive board of Step Up, an organization that empowers girls from under-resourced communities to become confident, college-bound and career-focused, and was honored as the organization’s 2018 Mentorship Champion in October. She received the Plank Center’s Milestones in Mentoring Award in 2015.

Rafferty also is an advocate for gender parity and women’s leadership, and is a founding member of Omnicom Group’s Omniwomen board. She has spoken extensively on unconscious bias, pay equity and gender equality on important global stages, including TEDxEast, the U.N. and at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
