Dr. David Rockland joined Ketchum in 2000. He is responsible for the agency’s research, measurement and analytics products and services called Ketchum Global Research & Analytics (KGRA). He oversees staff in 18 offices around the world, having grown that business from a handful of team members to well over 120 now. In addition to his KGRA role, he presently serves as the key point person for Ketchum’s partnership with Hakuhodo in Tokyo.
From 2008 through 2014, David also served as CEO of Ketchum’s management consulting and internal communications company, Ketchum Change. In 2007, he was charged with developing the agency’s global interactive offerings now collectively called Ketchum Digital.
David is a thought-leader in communications measurement and analytics and consults with a wide array of Ketchum and KGRA clients. He is the primary author of the Barcelona Principles, the first-ever set of standards for PR measurement. David was the Chairman for the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communications (AMEC) for 2013-2014. He also served as the Chairman of the IPR Commission on PR Measurement and Evaluation in 2007 and 2008 and is now an Emeritus Member of the Commission. He has been recognized with several industry awards for his leadership of the communications measurement profession and has a monthly column in PRSA’s Tactics magazine.
Formerly, David held the top communication jobs with a global mining company and a magazine publisher. He was also S.V.P. and Managing Director for Roper Starch Worldwide (now GfK) where he managed the company’s environmental and public relations practice areas and oversaw approximately 40 client relationships. David previously owned his own firm, The Rockland Group, specialized in environmental issues management and marketing, which he sold to Roper Starch in 1998.
An avid outdoorsman, he has served as Chairman of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation which supports the largest Caucus on Capitol Hill. The Secretary of the Interior appointed him to the Board of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. He was also appointed to the Board of the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation and served as its President. David holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Economics. He and his wife, Sarah Dutton with CBSNews, reside in New York and a farm on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
