As a Senior Partner of Ketchum and Chief Executive Officer of Ketchum’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations, David Gallagher brings more than 20 years of public relations experience, both as a client and as a senior agency adviser, to some of the world’s leading brands and companies. He oversees seven Ketchum offices and offerings that range from marketing communications, healthcare communications, corporate affairs and social responsibility, public affairs, change management, and clinical trial recruitment.
Prior to becoming CEO of EMEA, David served as CEO of Ketchum’s London office. During his tenure in that role, Ketchum London was frequently recognized as one of the best places to work in the U.K. by the Financial Times and Sunday Times, and cited as one of the top five international communications consultancies in London, serving clients across the U.K. and EMEA market, as well as around the world.
Globally, David is a member of Ketchum’s 10-member Executive Committee, a capacity in which he helps lead the worldwide management of the agency and counsels international clients on matters related to product communications, issues management and third-party advocacy. In addition, David chairs Ketchum’s global corporate social responsibility initiative.
Before moving to London in 2000, David was part of the management team at Ketchum Washington and oversaw the Healthcare Practice there. Prior to joining Ketchum in 1994, David held communications management roles for the American Diabetes Association and the National Mental Health Association, both in the Washington, D.C., area.
David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in the U.K., a member of the non-executive board of the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Initiative, a board member for the International Communications Consultancies Organisation, and Chairman of the Public Relations Consultants Association. He is a regular speaker and writer on matters related to international public relations.
David holds dual citizenship in the U.K. and U.S. and is politically active in both countries. He lives in Hampstead, London, with his wife and two children. He is a journalism graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a keen if cautious cyclist.
