New York, Feb. 25, 2009 – Ketchum, a leading public relations agency, today announced that Jonathan Kopp has joined the firm as Global Director of Ketchum Digital, Ketchum’s digital-media services unit. Kopp was a partner at SS+K, an integrated communications agency, where he provided strategic counsel and developed campaigns involving public relations, public affairs, issue advocacy, crisis management, marketing and advertising across traditional and digital media since 1995.

Among Kopp's recent accomplishments at SS+K, he was a member of Obama for America's National Media Team, using an integrated mix of digital and traditional communications to connect with younger voters.
“Jonathan is a proven communications manager with an impressive digital strategy and campaign background,” said Senior Partner Barri Rafferty, who oversees Ketchum Digital’s worldwide business unit. “As someone who recognizes, and is energized by, the prospects of deploying digital platforms to advance our clients’ objectives, I am thrilled to have Jonathan as part of the Ketchum Digital leadership team. Jonathan believes in the importance of using the online world to bring depth, power and texture to our clients’ stories, enabling them to get closer to the audiences that matter to them the most.”

Kopp will oversee the Ketchum Digital Content Shop, the Web design and development, audio and video production, and graphic design and print media unit of Ketchum Digital, along with client service and strategy for the global Ketchum Digital division and the worldwide network of Ketchum Digital consultants. He also will form a strong alliance with the firm’s word-of-mouth unit, Zócalo Group, and build on the award-winning work Ketchum is already doing with its clients.

“Digital is blurring the lines between public relations and advertising. With many traditional communications disciplines vying for relevance, the opportunity belongs to public relations to creatively engage consumers and earn their attention on Web and mobile devices,” said Kopp. “Ketchum has been steadily building the capability to provide digital strategy and content to clients around the world. I’m excited to help raise the profile of Ketchum Digital and make it the go-to provider for clients’ digital solutions.”

In his tenure at SS+K, Kopp served a broad range of corporate and nonprofit clients, including Anheuser-Busch, Polo Ralph Lauren, Time Warner Cable, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, among others. Before SS+K, Kopp worked in politics and policy in Washington, D.C. He practiced law at the Washington, D.C., office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher and served as law clerk to the Office of Counsel to the President in the Clinton White House after working on the opposition research and rapid response team of the Clinton/Gore 1992 presidential campaign.

Kopp has held various positions with nonprofit and professional organizations and today serves on the Advisory Board to aids2031 (a UNAIDS international consortium) and on the Emory Alumni Board Marketing Committee. He received a law degree from George Washington University and a bachelor’s from Emory University.
