Jerry Thompson has counseled CEOs and senior executives across a range of business types and situations in more than 25 years as a business communications consultant and corporate communications leader. His experience, combined with strong strategic and creative capabilities, has added value to executive decisions and action – helping leaders pursue and realize opportunities, and also to respond effectively to issues and crisis matters.For the American Iron and Steel Institute, Jerry chaired a committee that examined influencer and public opinion and perceptions of the industry. He was accountable to and advised the CEOs on the association’s board of directors as a landmark strategic reputation management program was developed and launched – a program that measurably increased awareness and understanding of steel’s innovation, technology and economic contributions.
He has also advised senior executives at Georgia-Pacific, Price Waterhouse and Rockwell Collins on a variety of change management and corporate branding initiatives. His labor relations experience was key when he advised the CEO and executive team of a major regional grocery retailer facing a prolonged strike, helping set media and employee communications strategies to navigate the crisis.
In addition, Jerry has been active on boards of directors for numerous organizations: Boy Scouts of America, Pittsburgh Opera, Communities In Schools, World Affairs Council, and Atlanta’s Livable Communities Coalition, a smart-growth advocacy group launched by the region’s civic and business leadership.
