New York and London, March 18, 2009 – David Rockland, Ph.D., Partner and Managing Director of Ketchum’s Global Research Network and Stromberg Consulting, based in New York, has been appointed to the board of directors of the International Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC). His appointment to the 14-member board is effective immediately.Until the end of 2008, Rockland was the chair of the Institute for Public Relations (IPR) Measurement Commission. He joins the AMEC board to help spearhead an initiative to grow membership among research units of global PR and advertising groups. “I am delighted to join the AMEC board as this organization becomes truly global in its representation of the PR measurement field,” said Rockland. "I want to help the AMEC achieve its primary objective – to spread best-practice standards that enhance evaluation around the world."
Barry Leggetter, Executive Director of the AMEC, said, “We work closely with the IPR and had recognized David’s commitment to and passion for measurement from his work with the Measurement Commission. His appointment will provide a valuable boost to the AMEC’s international growth.”
Rockland will be a speaker at the 1st European Summit on Measurement, which the AMEC is presenting with the IPR in Berlin, June 10-12.
Leggetter added, “In an economic downturn, program measurement is critical because organizations need to know their communications programs are working and delivering value for money. By attending the Berlin Summit, PR professionals can learn about new thinking in measurement, which will benefit their clients.”
He hopes PR professionals from across Europe will attend the first-ever event, which includes a series of workshops, on June 10. For further details, including the full speaker program and details on how to book, visit http://www.ameceuropeansummit.org/summit.
